Harrison was found wandering the streets, barely holding on. He was so weak, it looked like he was ready to collapse at any moment. A rescue stepped in, and one of the vet techs became his around-the-clock emergency foster because at that point, no one was sure he would make it. He was severely underweight, battling ear infections and painful skin yeast infections, and his body was shutting down — but he didn't give up.
Once his vitals stabilized, Harrison came to me as his medical foster. That's when the slow healing began. Day by day, meal by meal, he started gaining strength. It took months to bring him back to a healthy weight. His skin improved, his ears healed, and little by little, his personality started to shine through. He wasn't just surviving anymore — he was living.
Harrison eventually found his forever home with a wonderful couple who loved him deeply and gave him the life he deserved. He has since passed, but he didn't leave this world as the broken dog found on the street — he left as a loved, safe, and happy dog.
His story is a reminder that rescue is never just one person. It was the rescue who stepped in, the vet tech who stayed by his side when he might not make it, the medical care that kept him going, and the people who believed in him. Rescue truly takes a village.
