Some dogs run toward you. Raider ran away.
Found abandoned in an empty lot next to a water tower in Las Vegas, Raider had learned the hard way not to trust people. Every time someone walked by, he bolted. He was alone, scared, and as December set in, the desert nights were getting cold.
But we weren't giving up on him.
For nearly two weeks, a rescue friend and I took turns making the trip to that empty lot β bringing homemade treats and food, leaving them out, and slowly letting Raider decide when he was ready. No pressure. No chasing. Just patience, love, and a lot of home cooking. π
Day by day, he got a little closer. Sniffed a little longer. Ran a little less.
And then finally β we got him. π
Raider went to an incredible foster dad who gave him something he'd never had before β a safe home, gentle guidance, and the chance to learn how to be around other dogs. He blossomed. And it wasn't long before the right family saw him and knew β he was the one.
Raider was adopted. π‘π€
Today he rocks his Raiders bandana like the champion survivor he is β going from a cold, empty lot to a furever home filled with love.
Raider's story is why we do what we do at Happy Tails Co. Every treat we make, every bag we sell, goes toward giving more dogs like Raider a second chance. πΎ
