Our Story

Happy Tails Co. started because of rescue dogs — but the story began long before that.Over the years, I’ve helped rescue dogs off the streets, foster them through medical recovery, and work alongside rescue groups to help them find loving homes. From the outside, it might look like I’m the one helping them heal.But in many ways, these dogs healed me too.

Before I Knew What Home Felt Like

One of my earliest memories is chasing after a taxi as it drove away with my mother inside. I ran until one of my slippers broke. I remember standing there, watching the car disappear, and realizing she wasn’t coming back.Growing up, life at home was often uncertain, and I spent much of my childhood moving from one relative’s house to another. At a very young age, I learned how to read people carefully — their expressions, their tone, the feeling in a room — because I never wanted to be a burden.Everything began to change when I went to live with my grandmother. She didn’t show love through big words or grand gestures, but through quiet, steady care — a warm meal waiting for me, clean clothes, a place where I finally felt safe.For the first time in my life, I understood what home could feel like.And that feeling stayed with me.

Where Trust Began

Not long after, Ann — my Shar Pei — came into my life. She taught me how powerful quiet companionship and unconditional love could be.Years later, when I began rescuing dogs, I often faced the same challenge — many of them were too scared to come close. So I started making my own simple, healthy treats to gently earn their trust.And time after time, it worked.Those first small moments — when a frightened dog would take a step closer, drawn in by something made with care — became the beginning of their healing.That’s when I realized something important:Sometimes, trust can start with something as simple as a treat.Today, when I rescue a dog who is scared, hungry, and unsure if they can trust people again, I see a little bit of my younger self in them. Helping them heal and watching them finally find loving homes is one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.Happy Tails Co. was created from those moments — rescue-rooted, trust-built, and made with love using simple, human-grade ingredients with no additives or shortcuts.Because every dog deserves a place where they belong —and a reason to wag their tail again.
